About the Colorado River basin
The Colorado River basin is Division 5 of Colorado's seven water divisions. It takes in the Colorado River main stem and its tributaries, apart from the Gunnison, and its Division Engineer's office and water court sit in Glenwood Springs. BasinMind follows conditions here at Granby, Glenwood Springs, Rifle and Grand Junction.
The division is split into 11 water districts, the units water commissioners administer day to day. The first two digits of a structure's WDID are its district (What is a WDID?).

BasinMind follows 10 reservoirs in the division, with the capacity it records for each: Lake Granby (539,758 acre-feet), Dillon Reservoir (257,304 acre-feet), Green Mountain Reservoir (154,645 acre-feet), Ruedi Reservoir (102,373 acre-feet), Williams Fork Reservoir (96,822 acre-feet), Wolford Mountain Reservoir (65,993 acre-feet), Homestake Reservoir (43,505 acre-feet), Shadow Mountain Reservoir (18,369 acre-feet), Rifle Gap Reservoir (13,602 acre-feet) and Willow Creek Reservoir (10,553 acre-feet). The largest is Lake Granby; daily storage comes from Colorado DWR telemetry or Reclamation.
Its rivers belong to the Colorado River system, which seven states share under the Colorado River Compact (1922). More in The Colorado River Compact.
Water planning here runs through the Colorado River Basin Roundtable of the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
Each figure above carries the time its source stamped it. Percent of median compares today's flow with the median for this date over the gauge's record (cfs and acre-feet); a call shows how far down the priority list rights are being served on a stretch of river (What is a water call?).
