About the Gunnison basin
The Gunnison basin is Division 4 of Colorado's seven water divisions. It takes in the Gunnison and San Miguel river basins and part of the Dolores, and its Division Engineer's office and water court sit in Montrose. BasinMind follows conditions here at Gunnison, Montrose and Delta.
The division is split into 11 water districts, the units water commissioners administer day to day. The first two digits of a structure's WDID are its district (What is a WDID?).

BasinMind follows 7 reservoirs in the division, with the capacity it records for each: Blue Mesa Reservoir (940,700 acre-feet), Morrow Point Reservoir (117,190 acre-feet), Crystal Reservoir (25,236 acre-feet), Taylor Park Reservoir (106,230 acre-feet), Ridgway Reservoir (84,410 acre-feet), Paonia Reservoir (20,950 acre-feet) and Silver Jack Reservoir (12,900 acre-feet). The largest is Blue Mesa Reservoir; daily storage comes from Colorado DWR telemetry or Reclamation.
Its rivers belong to the Colorado River system, which seven states share under the Colorado River Compact (1922). More in The Colorado River Compact.
Water planning here runs through the Gunnison Basin Roundtable of the Colorado Water Conservation Board.
Each figure above carries the time its source stamped it. Percent of median compares today's flow with the median for this date over the gauge's record (cfs and acre-feet); a call shows how far down the priority list rights are being served on a stretch of river (What is a water call?).
